The Term Hip-Hop originated in the predominantly African American economically depressed South Bronx section of New York City in the late 1970s.
Hip-Hop (Rap) have many important influences—R&B, Funk, Soul, Jazz, Rock & Roll Performers; Poets, and Writers like Iceberg Slim; and stylistic forebears like Muhammad Ali and Richard Pryor.
In the early years of Hip-Hop, the DJs were the stars. MC’s such as Kurtis Blow and Melle Mel of Grand Master Flash’s crew, the Furious Five,developed strong rapping skills in the 1970s.
